A Rochester Original

2017 is the perfect year to discover or get reacquainted with the Rochester International Film Festival. The world’s longest-running continually held short film festival, it’s in its 59th year. That means big things for 2018, so if you’re a newbie, this year’s fest is a chance to get your bearings so that you can get max enjoyment out of the 60th installment.

A Weekend of Wonder

The Rochester International Film Festival features dozens of short films split up into four screenings over three days. Every film must be under 30 minutes in length, but the similarities end there. Every imaginable genre is represented, as are filmmakers of all ages and at all levels in their filmmaking careers. Each of the four screenings is unique, and all are held at the George Eastman Museum’s Dryden Theatre. Did we mention that every one of the screenings is free to attend? Possibly even more amazing than the festival’s longevity is the fact that it’s 100% volunteer-run.

Don’t Miss It!

In a city known for its film and festivals, the Rochester International Film Festival secures the honor of Best Local Film Festival year after year in the City Newspaper’s “Best of” poll. In addition to celebrating a diverse array of filmmakers, it creates an ideal opportunity for visitors to experience the Dryden Theatre. This film fest offers something for everyone, and it’s totally free, so check out this year’s lineup and show up for your favorite screening. We’ll see you at the movies!
