Area Activity Guide: 6x6x2015 Exhibit
Here in Rochester, we have no shortage of cultural institutions, but one that you might not be aware of is the Rochester Contemporary Arts Center. Located on East Ave (not even a 10 minute drive from Elmwood Manor, by the way), RoCo is a non-profit that focuses on thought-provoking, insightful contemporary artwork. It aims to bring people the work of established veterans as well as rising artists emerging onto the scene – regardless of who’s created it, if it challenges and makes one think, RoCo wants it.
One of their most popular exhibits each year is the 6×6 event, which is in its 7th year now. 6×6 features the works of national and local professional and amateur artists. What makes it so intriguing and special is that each piece of artwork is created on, or mounted to, a 6-inch by 6-inch board. Each of these pieces is displayed throughout the gallery, and the public is invited to explore, and even purchase, each and every one. It’s a unique exhibition that draws the work and attention of scores of locals and visitors. The 6x6x2015 Exhibition, whose website can be found here, opened June 6th and runs through June 12th, so don’t delay! Go check out one of the most singular art exhibitions of the year!
