Area Activity Guide: Best Places to Sled in Rochester
January 2015
There’s snow on the ground, and you know what that means! Yes, it mean icy roads, frigid temperatures, and shoveling ahead, but come on. Even the sourest of Winter Sourpusses can find joy in the purest of winter pleasures – sledding! If there’s a cheaper, simpler way to celebrate the winter season here in Rochester, we haven’t heard it. All you need is some snow (check!), a sled (generally easy to find), and a hill. Luckily, our Elmwood Apartments Fun-In-The-Snow Experts have got you covered on that last one.
We stumbled upon this helpful article about the best places in the greater Rochester area to get the rush that comes from plummeting down a snowy slope. Even better is how close to Elmwood Manor most of these are! For example, Ellison Park, Harris Whalen Park, Martha Brown Elementary School, Sutherland High School, Washington Grove Park (in Cobb’s Hill), and Laurelton-Pardee Intermediate School are all within a 15 minute drive. Several of the others are just a few minutes further. Hey, we get a lot of snow here in Rochester – you might as well make the best of it! Oh, and one last note: That website is all about kids’ activities, but don’t let that stop you, sled-loving adults! Don’t let kids have all the fun!
