More than a few of you probably know that Rochester was shockingly earlier this year that we would no longer be a stop on the LPGA tour. We’ve been involved in women’s golf for decades, and people were understandably upset to lose out on this beloved athletic tradition. However, help is on the way, in the form of the 2015 Danielle Downey Classic!

The Danielle Downey Classic is part of the Symetra Tour, and promises to be a fantastic replacement for the LPGA. Just like the LPGA, this year’s Classic will run from Thursday to Sunday, and there will be a number of big-name professional golfers. The tournament will start on July 16th, and run through the 19th, with practice rounds and Pro-Am events starting as early as the 13th. It’s being held at Brook-Lea Country Club, which is just a short 15 minute from from Erie Station Village. You can get tickets at Wegmans or the website, which also has a full schedule of events, parking information, and volunteering opportunities.
