Area Activity Guide: Deck the Town
December 2018
Celebrate as Neighbors
Even when you live in a great neighborhood, it can be easy to get into the habit of keeping to yourself and sticking to the same establishments you know and love. The holidays are a great time to get out, smile at strangers, and notice the incredible opportunities all around. To celebrate the Highland Park neighborhood and all who make it such a special place, College Town Rochester is hosting another family-friendly event on Saturday, December 8th. Think of it as an open house for the whole neighborhood.
For Deck the Town, Mt. Hope Avenue will be aglow with the sights and sounds of the holidays from 4 to 7 pm. Kids can meet Olaf and Elsa (from that one chilly movie), a lifesize Gingerbread Man, and the big elf himself — Santa. They can also post their holiday wishes directly to the North Pole. As a grown-up, you can pop into any restaurant that catches your eye, keep warm with Saxby’s Hot Chocolate Bar, pop some Rochester Kettle Corn, enjoy a wine walk, or tackle the food tasting rodeo. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, carolers, and outdoor fire pits. You’ll also discover the College Town Holiday Pass, which includes 12 days of holiday events, shopping perks, and gift-giving deals. And don’t miss the free entertainment — an ice sculpture demonstration and performances by the University of Rochester’s Yellow Jackets and Trebellious.
