Area Activity Guide: Great Rochester Tweed Ride
October 2017
Rochester’s Retro-est Ride
There are those who think cycling is old-school and those who make it so by taking part in the Great Rochester Tweed Ride. On Sunday, October 22nd, a band of vintage-styled cyclists will break out their classic bikes and most refined, old-timey British duds for a leisurely ride through the city. Riders will meet at 10 am at Hart’s Local Grocers for some seasonal refreshments — Schutt’s donuts, coffee, and a bushel of fresh apples. Then the group will roll out for an exploration of 10-ish miles of Rochester’s newest bike boulevards and bikeways. The whole thing ends with a picnic where you can mingle with dozens of tweed-adorned new friends.
Logistics
- This event is free and open to the public.
- You can bring any bike you want, but some effort to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is always appreciated.
- If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one from Zagster. Just be sure to download the app in advance so that you’re ready to roll the day of the ride.
- Kid trailers and cargo bikes are fine; just make sure your equipment is safe and comfortable before the event.
- If you plan to park at Hart’s, be sure to avoid the one-hour spots.
