Area Activity Guide: Imagine RIT Festival
May 2017
Innovation, Creativity & Community on Display
If you’ve attended the wonderland of high-tech artistry known as the Imagine RIT: Innovation + Creativity Festival in the past, you should know that this year’s event is the 10th Anniversary edition. If you’re new to Rochester or just to this particular festival (How can you keep up with them all, really?), that’s all the more reason to spend the early afternoon of Saturday, May 6th, on RIT’s Henrietta campus. Hundreds of presentations, demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on experiences will be on display, immersing the public in a hotbed of innovation and creativity. The event is free and offers something for all ages.
A Showcase of RIT
Among the plethora of practical problem-solving pursuits, you’ll find cutting-edge ideas related to virtual reality, energy production, gaming, robotics, and health sciences. It’s an opportunity to witness how students and faculty are reinventing the ways we make and understand art, music, and language. Sprinkled amongst all the newfangled technologies will be representatives from student organizations and old-school sports like equestrian and fencing. On-campus eateries will be serving up all sorts of sustenance, food trucks will be on hand to supplement, and snacks (including tons of ice cream) will be easy to track down.
See what’s possible!
And we mean that in every way possible! The exhibits on display at Imagine RIT will stretch your imagination and introduce you to paradigm shifting ideas. In addition, though, it’s an amazing opportunity to explore the campus, meet students and faculty, and find out about degree and continuing education programs, including spectacular programming for kids (K-12) and lifelong learners age 50 and over. Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend, as are current and incoming students and their families. Whether you want to go back to school or just keep up with intercollegiate athletics, there are tons of ways for members of the Rochester community to engage with the RIT community.
