Area Activity Guide: June Jazz Duets at Central Library
May 2015
Libraries are one of a community’s greatest resources. Thankfully, here in Rochester we’ve got a bunch of them! The Central Library has a bunch of great events for summer, so we’re going to be highlighting of few of those here in the blog over the next couple of months. The City of Rochester’s event calendar website (a fabulous site worth bookmarking in it’s own right!) has very detailed information on each event, including contact info. The library’s website, as well has a list of them, as well as a handy flyer you can print out with the same information. That way, you’ll always know what’s going on and realize that a library is about more than just books!
For example, on June 2nd, the Central Library’s June Jazz Duets series kicks off! That Tuesday, from 12 – 1PM, Bob Sneider and Jeff Campbell will bring their guitar-and-bass (respectively) jazz to the Dorris Carlson Reading Garden. If it rains (this is Rochester, afterall), the concert will be moved to the Kate Gleason Auditorium. Aside from the music, the best part of this series is that it’s free! And the series continues on June 9th (Kristen Shiner McGuire & Vince Ercolamento) and June 16th (Doug Stone & Paul Hofmann)! It all sounds like a nice way to lead into the Jazz Fest in late June. So take the 7 minute trip from Elmwood Manor to Central Library and go hear some free jazz!
