Area Activity Guide: PlayROCs
July 2017
Healthi Kids Presents
If you have little ones — or are concerned about the well-being of kids and their families throughout the city of Rochester — then Healthi Kids is an organization that you should know about. This community-based coalition of health experts and community leaders advocates for policy and practice changes to achieve benefits for local kids in five key areas:
- Better School Food
- At Least 60 Minutes of In-School Activity
- Safer Play Areas
- Walkable, Bikeable, Accessible Communities
- Healthy Foods in Neighborhoods
A FREE City Wide Play Day
As a part of Healthi Kids mission to create safer and more accessible play spaces for kids in every neighborhood, last year they launched an idea called PlayROCs your Neighborhood that’s grown very quickly into a movement. In 2016, fourteen neighborhood associations, block clubs, and community organizations reclaimed their public spaces and demonstrated what a playful neighborhood looked like to them in the “PlayROCs your Neighborhood” city-wide play day. This year, on July 15th, twenty neighborhoods will take part in the 2017 “PlayROCs Your Neighborhood” coordinated play day. Attendees can expect healthy snacks, games, activities, and fun for the whole family. Check the list below to find the play day closest to you, and follow the Facebook event to receive updates!
