Area Activity Guide: The Accidental Hero at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre
July 2015
We’ve been letting you know about a lot of outdoor activities lately, which makes sense. Summer is for enjoying the warm weather! But a change of pace from time-to-time is nice, too. With that in mind, we wanted to let you know about a powerful one-man-show that is coming to town in early August.
Playing at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre (10 minutes away from Elmwood Manor) on August 1st and 2nd, The Accidental Hero tells the true story of a man who grew up ashamed of his Czech heritage. However, after he is drafted into World War II and survives Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge, he ends up liberating the Czechoslovakian town his grandparents had grown up in, and begins to see his family heritage in a much different light. Not only that, but the man’s story is told by his grandson, playwrite and actor Patrick Dewane, through the use of rare color footage of World War II, photos, and music, which create an extraordinary multi-media experience fitting of an extraordinary story. Ticketing information, extended show details, and venue information can be found here.
