It’s June, so you know what that means – it’s almost time for Fairport Canal Days! In fact, the festival starts tomorrow, June 5th, kicking off with live music from the Rhythm Connect House Band and Allegro (with Bill Tiberio) and a chicken barbeque.

In case you’ve never been, a huge chunk of Fairport closes down to vehicular traffic, and the downtown area becomes a wonderful open-air market, packed with people there to sample foods, crafts, and arts from over 200 area merchants. If you have attended before, you know it’s much more than that. For example, spread throughout several different stages, there are all kinds of jazz bands at the festival – everyone from high school players to local legends. Other events include wine, chocolate, and cheese tasting, a duck race, and very special night-time concerts, as well! It’s always a great way to spend a day (and night), and since it’s not even 20 minutes away from Elmwood Manor, there’s no reason not to go explore!
