Bring Spring Inside with Houseplants

April 2015

Have you been itching to get outside and garden, but the weather just hasn’t been cooperating yet? Scratch that itch with some house plants. Adding a little greenery to your home is a great way to decorate, brighten your mood and, in some cases, even freshen the air you breathe. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Want to put a plant in an area where you don’t get much light? Try begonias, mint, or a moss terrarium.
  • If you’re looking for plants that purify the air, try aloe vera, Boston fern, ficus alii or gerber daisy.
  • Do you have a black thumb? Try one of these plants that is almost impossible to kill.
  • Looking to save a little money at the grocery store? Growing indoor herbs are the way to go! You’ll add tons of flavor to your cooking, and won’t have to spend $1.99 at the grocery store every week on a bunch of herbs that will probably go bad before you can use them all. Chives, parsley, thyme, oregano, basil, and sage are all great choices if you have limited space and light.
  • Have kids? They’ll love helping you water and care for your plants. Consider getting them a fun Chia pet to take care of on their own.

Happy growing!
